Transparency for Track Infrastructure:
Excellence in Rail Surface Monitoring

The TMS is a vehicle-based, modular measurement system for continuous condition monitoring of rail infrastructure – specifically designed for use under real operating conditions. Depending on the system configuration and application, the TMS provides condition data during operation to support the identification of broken rails, worn crossing noses (frogs), corrugations, slip waves, rough rail surfaces, and acoustic anomalies.

The TMS can be used in a wide range of applications, from integrated solutions in service vehicles to mobile or permanently installed monitoring platforms. The system delivers condition data from the monitored routes, enabling condition-based maintenance strategies, trend analyses, early damage detection, and automated maintenance planning.

Track Monitoring System Application Areas

  • Autonomous monitoring of the entire rail network
  • Detection of corrugation, waviness, or acoustic rail roughness
  • Detection of rail damage and worn crossing noses (frogs)
  • Condition-based and predictive maintenance
  • Cost savings through condition-based maintenance rather than maintenance at fixed intervals
  • Targeted noise and vibration mitigation
  • Rail monitoring and statistics on rail defects that have occurred

Track Monitoring System Benefits

  • Autonomous operation
  • Suitable for all track structures
  • Robust system design for all climatic zones and continuous operation
  • Simple and durable installation on operational vehicles
  • Remote monitoring and remote diagnostics
  • Modular design and add-on modules for further monitoring tasks such as noise monitoring or wheel squeal detection
  • Graphical web app with full data access, analyses, and reports
  • Regular software updates
  • Real-time data transmission

Option: Mobile Track Monitoring System (TMS)

The mobile Track Monitoring System (TMS) enables cost-efficient assessment of the condition of rails. It is a fully automated measurement system designed for temporary installation in a vehicle in regular service.

Installation is completed within a single day. The rail network is then traveled along. Once installed, the system starts automatically when operating voltage is applied and begins its measurement as soon as the vehicle moves. The measurement result is a detailed assessment of the track condition across the traveled network. The results are documented in a report that can be delivered immediately after completion of the measurements.

The mobile TMS is a simple and efficient method for determining the rail condition throughout the entire network.
