Last weekend, Müller-BBM Rail Technologies and Nordic Rail Service carried out successful comparative measurements on the wheels of Nordic Rail Service freight trains in Lübeck. The aim was to validate the Wheel Monitoring System (WMS) in freight cars using our high-precision wheel measurement device m|wheel. Thanks to m|wheel, the measurements were carried out quickly and efficiently.

The selection was based on data previously collected by the WMS. This had shown that the train had very good wheel quality overall, with only slight out-of-roundness on a few cars (minimal roughness, smallest flat spots).

Our on-site measurements fully confirmed the results of the WMS: even the smallest flat spots and the slightest wheel roughness were detected reliably and with high wheel accuracy. This is another step toward the continuous optimization of wheel monitoring in rail transport.

The high precision of the WMS makes an important contribution to greater safety, efficiency, and availability in freight transport.
